Phase I: New Golf Maintenance Facility
We've Moved Into the New Maintenance Building!
The first phase of Sportsman's Facility Master Plan was the construction of a new maintenance facility to replace the former bowling alley/restaurant building that has been in use since the late 1970s. As of April 2004, the maintenance staff and all course maintenance functions have moved to the new facility. The new facility has an entrance off Dundee Road; it is intended for maintenance purposes and is not for public use. This will reduce the traffic flow at our main entrance and provide additional parking. The old facility will still house our golf cars and be used by the outside service staff until it goes away in Phase III of the Facility Master Plan. Phase II: New Miniature Golf Course and Driving Range
The second phase of the Facility Master Plan includes replacing the aged miniature golf course, lengthening the driving range to add grass tees, and exploring several improvement options such as an automatic teeing system, a sheltered tee line, rebuilding the range service building and adding a party pavilion. This project is currently in the planning stages.
Phase III: New Parking Lot and Entrance Drive
The third phase of the Facility Master Plan involves improvements on all the asphalt surfaces from Dundee Road to the Clubhouse.
The entrance drive will be reconfigured, new lighting will be installed, the old maintenance building will be removed, and the entire parking lot will shift south (closer to the Clubhouse) so that more than half of the new parking will be closer to the Clubhouse than the current best spots. The retention pond in front of the clubhouse will be filled in, and the small pond next to #1 tee on the East 9 will be significantly enlarged to conform to stormwater management requirements. This phase of the plan will be done in conjuction with Phase II, and will start at the same time. Phase IV: New Golf Car Storage Facility
The fourth phase of the Facility Master Plan involves building a new golf cart storage facility, preferably underground, just east of the current clubhouse.
All golf cars and staff service cars will be stored in this facility, and the process of staging and lining up cars for our guests will be much improved. With the new facility, we anticipate to convert from our current gas cars to electric models. Planning for this phase will commence after completion of Phases II & III.
The fifth phase of the Facility Master Plan involves remodeling or even replacing the current clubhouse. This will likely be done inconjuction with Phase IV, and the two phases may be combined into one structure, with golf car storage in a basement under a new clubhouse. We anticipate doing a feasibility study to determine the best course of action for the final two phases of the Sportsman's Facility Master Plan.
