Junior Golf Development Program

The Northbrook Golf Academy and Sportsman's Country Club are in the second season of their  Junior Golf Development Series. The traditional Junior Golf Camps have been replaced to focus on skills-development with individual performance progressions. The Junior Golf Development Series (boys and girls ages 8-16) will consist of multiple levels with objective skills testing for advancing levels and to measure improvement. The program is organized much like the colored belts of martial arts or the progressive steps in a swimming program. A player begins with the basics of golf, including fundamental playing skills and course management.
There will also be classroom lessons on the rules and etiquette associated with playing the game with integrity and respect. Students will participate in putting, chipping, pitching, sand play and full swing instruction, as well as on-course lessons and skills challenges. By participating in the Junior Golf Development Series, students will have fun while developing their ability to play the game.

Junior Golf Development Program
Phase 1: Par Player
This class focuses on the key elements to understand the game and play responsibly on the golf course. Students will learn rules, etiquette, and safety, as well as the basic skills of both the short game and full swing. Each session will focus on the players understanding of the game in an effort to prepare them for activity on the course. Classes consist of (6) one and a half (1 ½ hours) sessions. The first session meets at Sportsman's Golf Shop.

Junior golfers must complete this Phase I: Par Player class to participate in the Junior Golf League.
