Northbrook Golf Academy Sportsman's Country Club houses the Northbrook Golf Academy, offering the finest golf instruction on the North Shore! The great PGA golf instruction you've come to know at Sportsman's is know organized as the Northbrook Golf Academy. Founded by Golf Director Mark Miller, PGA instructor, and led by veteran PGA instructor Stan Mazzetta, your golf game is guaranteed to improve with one of our prescribed courses of study. ![]() Group Instruction Our group instruction clinics are fun and organized to stimulate learning and build solid fundamentals. You will receive tailored instruction in areas of the game where you need the most help. We guarantee a student/teacher ratio of 6:1 or better. Private Lessons The best way to ensure your success is private lessons from PGA instructors. Again, your satisfaction and improvement are guaranteed when you purchase a lesson series program from one of our PGA professionals or apprentices. Remember, you will enjoy yourself more when your game is at its best! Private Golf Lessons PGA golf instruction is generally available 7 days per week and should be arranged in advance by appointment. Purchase five ½ hour lessons and the 6th is free. 2009 Adult Group Golf Instruction All students (adults) participating in group instruction will be invited to a Golf Outing and BBQ. The Northbrook Golf Academy Instructors will be participating with students. Note: In case of inclement weather, classes may be rescheduled or cancelled. Adult Group Lessons The PGA professionals of the Northbrook Golf Academy provide expert instruction for beginners and experienced players. New formats this year will make it easier for golfers to concentrate on specific needs, and general programs will allow beginners to try out this wonderful game and develop a foundation to build upon. Classes are based on a 6:1 student to professional ratio. Get Golf Ready - Level 1 A class for beginners! These clinics are structured in conjunction with the national Play Golf America Program. The series provides basic golf knowledge about rules, safety, equipment, golf facility orientation, navigating the course, golf etiquette and keeping score. You will also learn fundamentals of putting, chipping and the full swing. All sessions include some time on the course. Class meets for five (5) one-hour sessions, and golf clubs are available for those who need them. The first class meets at Anetsberger Golf Course Golf Shop.
Play Better Golf This class is geared for those who have taken the introductory “Learning to play Golf” class, beginners to intermediate players with a 20-40 handicap, and players without an established handicap, but still want to improve their game. The basic fundamentals you will learn are posture, grip, alignment and ball position. Emphasis in this class will be putting, chipping and the development of the full swing skills. Classes will meet for (6) one-hour sessions with the final two sessions meeting on the golf course. The first class meets at Sportsman’s Golf Shop.
Full Swing School This class is a natural progression for those who have taken the “Play Better Golf” class and for any golfer looking to improve his/her ball striking skills. Emphasis will be placed on a comprehensive understanding of the full swing using fundamentals of playing both woods and irons. All students will learn reasons why they missed certain shots and acquire the knowledge to make self-corrections. Classes meet for (5) one hour sessions. The first class meets at Sportsman’s Driving Range.
Short Game School The quickest and easiest way to consistently lower your scores is to improve your short game skills. While they seem to be the simplest shots in the game, they’ll have the greatest impact on your score. Instruction for this class will focus on learning the proper fundamentals in putting, chipping, pitching and sand play. Classes meet for (5) one hour sessions. All classes are at Anetsberger Golf Course.
Custom Clinics Custom clinics can be designed for groups of 2-6 players. Lesson plans from any of our clinics may be combined to create a custom curriculum designed to meet your scheduling needs. Play with the Pro Students of the Northbrook Golf Academy have the option to schedule on course playing lessons with one of our accomplished PGA professionals. Sessions may be 9 or 18 holes at either Anetsberger Golf Course , Sportsman’s East 9, or our Championship Golf Course. Playing lessons are set up on an individual basis with restrictions based on golf course availability.
