Administrative Support for Golf Operations Golf Academy Teaching Professional
Upon completion of a successful law enforcement career in Warren, Ohio Bill retired at the rank of Captain, and proceeded directly into a second career within the golf industry. Beginning in the golf business started as an employee with Nevada Bob's, Bill then worked at Golfsmith where he increased his knowledge of golf equipment and learned club fitting principles. His first position as a golf professional came as an assistant at Steeple Chase Golf Club in Mundelein, Illinois. Before coming to Sportsman's Country Club, Bill served as an Assistant Golf Professional at Chalet Hills Golf Club in Cary, Illinois, where he started his golf teaching in earnest. Now in his sixth year at Sportsman's, Bill has moved from an Assistant Golf Professional position to principle job assignment duties of providing administrative support for all golf operations. Working directly with the Director of Golf and his management staff, Bill has additionally become involved with development and management of the Sportsman's web site, sportsmansgolf.com. Bill fulfills his teaching goals as an instructor with the Northbrook Golf Academy by offering private instruction lessons, by evening and weekend appointments. Geared toward Player Development Golf Instruction, Bill specifically seeks to help his students improve their full swing goals as well as their short game skills (pitch shots, chipping, sand play and putting). He is also involved with many of the Golf Clinic programs offered at Sportsman's Country Club, and during the winter months he teaches at the Golf Dome in Buffalo Grove. Originally being certified to teach golf through the United States Golf Teachers Federation, Bill then entered the PGA Apprentice Program in 2002. Using a teaching philosophy based upon keeping instruction simple and fun, he relies upon building a golf swing from basic pre-swing fundamentals geared specifically toward a "One-plane or Two-plane" swing and using those basic pre-swing fundamentals toward overall game improvement and specific “short game” instruction. Drawing upon the student's past experience in other sports, he will work with a student toward a developing a swing that is comfortable and fits him/her, as opposed to trying to make the student fit the swing. Bill will explain and demonstrate how the laws of human motion relate to making a golf swing. Understanding human motion, as it relates to golf, will have students build a much more relaxed and consistent swing. Bill believes most students will find the most golf game enjoyment when the swing they build is comfortable and repeatable. So if you are looking to improve your swing and your game come to the Northbrook Golf Academy at Sportsman's Country Club and ask Bill how he can help. Bill can be reached in his Sportsman's office at (847) 291.2351, extension 120 and at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
