Head Golf Professional Golf Academy Teaching Professional
Greg has begun his 5th season as the PGA Head Golf Professional at Sportsman's. Greg is a graduate of the Commercial Recreation Program at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Since arriving at Sportsman's Greg has helped reshape the Adult and Junior Golf Programs to create a diversified learning environment. Junior introductory classes focus on playing golf in a safe environment, while luring the rules, safety, and on course etiquette. Added to the junior program are an Instructional series which provide intensive training in golf fundamentals and the Players Series which focuses on playing strategies and on course coaching. The complexion of the adult series has changed to include classes focusing specifically on the short and long game. Greg teaches golf to players of all skill levels. In his 5th season at Sportsman's as the Head Golf Professional, Greg helps to plan and organize all aspects of a complete teaching program and helps leads a staff of 3 PGA Professionals and 5 PGA Apprentices. Greg has been teaching golf for 12 years. Greg spent the first 9 years of his professional career at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton, Illinois. Cantigny is a 27-Hole upscale facility which is ranked 50th out of the top 100 you can play by Golf Magazine. Greg was the First Assistant golf professional where he was responsible for managing the day to day operations of all golf services and served as the merchandise manager for the golf shop. During his time spent at Cantigny Greg was recognized by Golf Shop Operations Magazine as a Top 100 Golf Shop Operator 3 times. Greg served as the junior golf coordinator prior to the development of the Cantigny Youth Links. Greg was instrumental in the development of the Junior Golfer Development program which featured 6 levels and accommodated over 600 students annually. Greg also co-developed, coordinated, and trained instructors in the Cantigny Youth Links Golfer Certification Program. This program enables certified juniors ages 8 and up the ability to play unaccompanied golf on the Youth Links Course. Through an extensive knowledge of the game learned under Lou Solarte who is one of the game's most recognized instructors, Greg has developed the ability to analyze and identify the positive attributes of your golf swing along with the factors that may be preventing an individual from achieving their best results.
