MIKE SIEFKEN
Golf Course Superintendent

Mike is in charge of all aspects of grounds and building maintenance at Sportsman's Country Club and Anets Golf Course. He started at Sportsman's in the early spring of 2002, and is now in his 4th season.

He brings 14 years of experience in golf course maintenance. Mike has gained valuable experience along the way, working as assistant superintendent locally at Skokie Country Club as well as Sunset Ridge Country Club. In 1995, Mike became the Head Golf Course Superintendent at Woodstock Country Club in Woodstock, Illinois. After 7 seasons at this excellent 9 hole facility, Mike moved to Northbrook to join the staff at Sportsman's Country Club.

At Sportsman's Country Club, Mike manages a staff of 17 employees who strive to achieve the highest quality playing conditions possible. He is also involved in planning and implementation of golf course improvements. Mike was instrumental in the design of our new maintenance facility, which he and his staff now call home.

Mike graduated from Michigan State University in 1990 with a B.S. degree in Crop and Soil Science. He keeps up with current technology and trends in turfgrass care with his involvement in the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Mike also serves on the editorial committee for the Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents.

He lives in Lake in the Hills, IL with his wife Kristin and seven year old daughter, Abigail.

ROBERT G. FUGELSETH, JR.
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

With over ten years of maintenance experience at various area golf courses, including Midlane Country Club and Countryside Golf Course, Rob has been exposed to almost every facet of course maintenance and supervision.

Now serving in his present position, he successfully makes the best use of a blend of hands-on experience and his educational background in Horticulture/Turf Management from the College of Lake County. Sportsman's Country Club owes much in the way of praise to Rob for the aesthetic beauty our golfers enjoy each day.

Although Rob has many personal goals to attend to in life, his professional goals are to perform at his best no matter what situation is presented to him, and that he learn from each of those in order to better himself both as a person and a Golf Industry Professional. Of course, Rob would like to ultimately become a Head Golf Course Superintendent and manage his own facility. We have no doubt he will someday soon realize this dream, we just hope not too soon!

Recently married, he and his lovely young bride, Sarah, reside in Gurnee, IL with their Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Cooper. They both also enjoy riding on his Harley-Davidson Fat-Boy motorcycle.

RUSTY

Rusty is our lovable resident Goose Management canine. He lives at the golf course, and works alongside several members of the Grounds Maintenance Crew. Rusty is a well trained, hardworking dog that is extremely intelligent and very friendly. While doing his job a chasing the geese away, he never interferes with the golfers on the course.
