Frequently Asked Junior League Questions

Will it be supervised?
Yes, we will have our staff watching and supervising the kids.  Parents are welcome to come and watch.

What time are tee times?

Morning Tee times will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am-1:30pm, and will occur
every 12 minutes in either groups of 3 or 4.

Afternoon tee times will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30pm-5:30pm

Do we have to play every week?
No, we understand families have many things planned during the summer, and you have the flexibility in deciding which weeks you want to play.  The fee per day is $12.

How long will it take them to play?
Your child and their golf group are expected to play each hole in no longer than 13 minutes for a total of 1 hour and 57 minutes.

How do I sign up for league weeks?

You simply call the Anetsberger Golf Shop up to two weeks in advance to schedule a tee time for them.  Tee Times are on a first come first serve basis.

How will the winners be notified?

The winners will be posted after the conclusion of the entire event.  They may pick up their prizes following the event in the golf shop.

How many kids will win prizes?

Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 kids and ties weekly, plus there will be other opportunities to win prizes playing fun contests.

Is instruction included?

The junior league is meant to provide a safe, fun atmosphere where kids can meet and play fun games. There will also be playing with the pro opportunities this year.  If your child is looking for more instruction they can receive that through our junior development program or through private instruction.

How does the new points system work?

Social and Tournament Point System
1st   25 points
2nd   20 points
3rd   15 points
4th   10 points
5-10th and Ties  7 points

You earn 3 points for each social league and tournament day you play in.
You earn 10 points for each clinic you attend through the summer.

Ties in the point system at the end of the year will be decided by the lowest scoring average.
The top 24 point finishers will compete in the Anetsberger Cup the week after the club championship.  We will create two teams, and play a 27 hole Ryder Cup style format.

When do we pick up our free rounds, hat, bag tag, rules book, and junior golf journal?
You may pick up your gifts the day you pay your annual league fees.

Can a junior be enrolled in the Par Program or Junior Golf League before their 8th birthday?

Yes, juniors may be enrolled in the Par Program before their 8th birthday once they have successfully completed the future stars class, and if they will be turning 8 between March and September during the current golf season.

How will my son or daughter be evaluated in the Par Class?

They will be taught the basic fundamentals of golf, and they must pass a written quiz covering the basic rules and etiquette of the game. They will also be observed and evaluated on the course showing a basic competency of rules, etiquette, and conduct on the course.

Here are some examples of why your Junior may not pass if they do the following:

Standing to close to other players hitting
Walking ahead of other players who are hitting, and putting them self in danger
Swinging a club to close to other players or hitting balls at other kids intentionally
Not being aware of whose turn it is
Being Disruptive when others are playing
Placing their golf bag on the green
Failure to repair ball marks, divots, and rake the sand

What is my juniors next step if they do not pass the par class?

They may be required to retake the whole class or play 3 rounds with an adult golfer ensuring they are practicing proper golf etiquette, rules, and conduct while on the course.

If my junior has already taken lessons at another facility, how do they get into the program?
You have two options:

1. Have them register in the par class, this is a great refresher course for many juniors who haven't played or practiced since last season.

2. They can attempt to pass out of the par class criteria by signing up for one of the following dates and times (Friday, May 23rd from 4:15-7:15 pm, or Friday, June 27th from 4:15-7:15 pm) The fee to take the test is $30. Upon successful completion they are eligible for the junior golf league and birdie silver class.

How do I register?
You can register at Sportsman's or Anetsberger in person.  You can also send a check made out to the Northbrook Park District to:
